This morning Governor Whitmer issued an executive order suspending all face-face learning for the remainder of the school year. Although this announcement has been expected for a few days now, it still seems a bit surreal. The impact of this decision will have a great affect on all of our students, staff, parents and community members.
This is heartbreaking news for all of our students and staff. Spring is typically a time when we are able to recognize the great achievements of our students, a time for field days and field trips. It is a time that our seniors have looked forward to for many years. My heart goes out to all of our students, especially our seniors. To our seniors, I would like to assure you that there will be a graduation. I don’t know when it will be or how it will look, but you will be properly recognized.
I want to assure you that our staff has been working behind the scenes to develop a solid Continuous Learning Plan for all of our students. More details on this will be communicated sometime next week. One thing that is known for sure is that we will need your support in making these learning opportunities successful.
We have a great staff and a great community and I know we will get through this challenging time. I ask that you keep safe and do your best to stay healthy.
Thank you for supporting Hopkins Public Schools.
