Hopkins Public Schools Closure Update March 23, 2020
Dear Parents,
This morning Governor Whitmer issued Executive Order No. 2020-21 – Stay Home, Stay Safe. In order to comply with that order to the best of our ability, the following designations need to be made and the changes communicated to our community.
- All school offices and buildings will be closed to the public for the duration of this Executive Order (March 24, 2020 through April 13, 2020).
- Essential Staff Identified.
- Central Office staff needed to process transactions such as payroll, benefits, and accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintenance staff to ensure the integrity of our buildings.
- Bus drivers, dispatcher and food service employees to facilitate the distribution of meals to students within our district.
- Technology department employees to ensure the security of our buildings and arrange necessary virtual and online communications.
- All employees that do report to work must adhere to proper social distancing recommendations.
We will continue with meal distributions through spring break. If you would like to receive meals for your children and have not yet signed up, please complete the following form.
If you have questions regarding academic instructional activities, please email your child’s teacher or principal; they are happy to assist you.
Additionally, there has been no indication of when students will be allowed to return to school. In her press conference this morning, Governor Whitmer mentioned that new information on that will be coming soon.
