Director: Mrs. Jessica Williams
The high school band is under the direction of Mrs. Jessica Williams. Mrs. Williams came to Hopkins in 2010 after teaching for 3 years at Pellston Public Schools in northern Michigan. In the last 3 years the band program has grown from 30 members in high school band to over 50. This year was the first year that the marching band performed at district marching band festival at East Kentwood High School. “We received a second division rating- which isn’t half bad considering it was our first time attending.” said Williams. The high school concert band went to state band festival last year and received all fist division ratings. Mrs. Williams is a graduate of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI and is studying for her master’s degree in wind conducting through American Band College at Sam Houston State University in Texas.
This is an organization of band parents that assist the program by chaperoning, helping with fund raisers, and filling in where there are other needs with the Hopkins Middle and High School Band. We meet the second Monday of each month at 6:30 PM in the band room.
