Frequently-asked Testing Questions:

When should my child plan on being in attendance for their testing day?

All 9th-11th grade students must attend their digital readiness testing session on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.  At this session they will complete all required preparation steps so that their CollegeBoard testing session runs quickly and smoothly.  In addition, all Juniors will complete their ACT WorkKeys test the morning of Thursday, March 26, 2026.

After Spring Break, all Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen will complete their College Board Test on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 during the normal school day.  In addition, all Juniors will complete their M-STEP Science and Social Studies tests on April 23, 2026. All testing sessions require all students to attend, and will be taken during the normal school day schedule.  Seniors will not be required to attend school on April 14, 2026 (no Vo-tech either).

How will my child know where to report on their testing day(s)?  What should they bring with them for their testing day(s)?  Will safety protocols be in place during testing?

Schedules will be emailed to students and staff so that students know when and where they are to report, time frames for each test (and lunchtimes as well), and what they are allowed to bring with them.

Are students required to complete their test(s)?

Yes.  These tests are mandatory by state law and free of charge. .

Does my child need to do anything prior to their testing day?

Here are a few recommended tips before testing day(s):

  1. Make sure you bring a CHARGED Chromebook and their POWER CORD as well, as all College Board tests are digital this year.  In addition, students should bring pencils and good erasers as some problems may involve scrap work.  DO NOT BRING A WATCH OR CELL PHONE – AS THEY ARE PROHIBITED!
  2. There will be an online DESMOS calculator available to you, but you may bring an approved calculator as well.  Not sure?  Check out the website https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat-subject-tests/taking-the-test/calculator-policy to see if your calculator will work for your test(s).  Calculators are not required, but are recommended.
  3. Interested in learning more about the test they are about to take?  Go to https://www.hpsvikings.org/our-schools/hhs/state-testing/ for specific test information.
  4. Juniors should have a list of the 4 places they would like to send their SAT scores prior to their SAT testing day.  Then, while filling in information for the test, they will type-in the codes for each of these institutions.  These are the 4 locations their SAT scores will be sent to FOR FREE!  Otherwise, they will need to log into their College Board account and pay to send their scores somewhere else.

Is there anything else I need to know about College Board tools that can be helpful for my child?

Yes.  Here are two services, found at collegeboard.org that can be linked to your child’s account, that are great tools in looking into life after high school.

1 – Student Search Service (can opt-in to this service on Digital Readiness day)

Student Search Service connects students with additional colleges and scholarship organizations by sharing information with participating organizations, which will provide you and your student with:

• information about colleges and universities that match your student’s academic interests

• information on financial aid and scholarships to help deserving students access scholarships they’ve earned

• information about majors, courses, and degree options

2 – BigFuture School and Connections

  • Connections gives students the opportunity to connect with certain colleges
  • BigFuture School helps students take career quiz and surveys

The College Board only shares data with eligible colleges, universities, and scholarship and educational opportunity programs that signed an agreement to communicate with students only for the purposes listed above. These entities most often connect with students based on expected graduation date, cumulative grade point average (GPA), score range, and intended college major.

What if I want to make sure my child does not complete optional information on Digital Readiness day?

If you are interested in having your 9th, 10th, or 11th grade child opt out of optional questions on Digital Readiness Day (students still have the option to skip optional questions on their own as well), then you must fill out the following link by February 14th.

Opt-Out of Participation in Optional Questions on Digital Readiness Day

SAT National Testing Information – Retake Info

  • You must register online at www.sat.org to sign up for one of the following tests.  If the student does not have account, they should create one (no access to student accounts by HHS staff)
  • These tests will NOT happen at Hopkins High School, but at another local testing site (you choose one when you register online)
  • You must bring identification with you on testing day – follow the steps on how to do this on www.sat.org under “Photo ID requirements”
  • All other materials needed are the same as if testing at HHS this Spring
